Opportunities for Young Investigators

​​​​YOUNG INVESTIGATOR ORAL COMMUNICATION SESSIONS ​

Following their success in Glasgow, the scientific programme for EAS 2016 will again feature Young Investigator Oral Communication sessions to provide our younger, upcoming researchers a prestigious platform​​ from which to launch or progress their international careers. A strong contingent of senior scientists is engaged to interact with and mentor the next generation, in both the moderated poster sessions and oral communication sessions. This interaction will be a source of great inspiration and encouragement, and will ultimately strengthen research in the field.​

YOUNG INVESTIGATOR FELLOWSHIPS

As a measure of the Society’s commitment, EAS is offering Young Investigator Fellowships to selected abstract and oral communication presenters aged 35 or under ​​​on a competitive basis.​​

Young Investigator Fellowships will include:

  • Complimentary Congress registration
  • Complimentary registration to Congress satellite meeting "Lp(a) - From Bench to Bedside" Innsbruck, May 27-28​
  • Complimentary 1-year EAS membership subscription
  • Complimentary invitation to the social events, Congress Welcome Reception and Networking Evening 
  • ​A grant (up to 400 €) towards travel & accommodation at EAS 2016.
​​​​Terms & Conditions

  • Applicants MUST complete an application form by February 01, 2016
  • ​​Applicants MUST have submitted an abstract for presentation at EAS 2016.
  • Submit your abstract at the Congress website. 
  • Applicants must be 35 or under on May 29, 2016.​
  • The award of the Fellowships is at the discretion of the organisers​.
  • Notifications will be sent out by February 26, 2016.

​TRAVEL GRANTS TO EAS CONGRESS

These grants are awarded to selected presenters of poster or oral communications who live and work in countries where funding for travel to international meetings is difficult to obtain.

The grants cover:·       
  • ​Complimentary Congress registration.
  • Complimentary invitation to the social events, Congress Welcome Reception and Networking Evening.
  • A grant (up to 400 €) towards travel & accommodation at EAS Congress.
The Grants are awarded at the discretion of the organisers.

Application procedures for EAS 2016
Application for travel grant is a member benefit. To be eligible to apply for a travel grant, please make sure your membership is up to date. 

  • ​Applicants MUST complete the application form by February 01, 2016.
  • Applicants MUST have submitted an abstract for presentation at EAS 2016.
  • Submit your abstract at the Congress website.
  • The award of Travel Grants is at the discretion of the organisers.
  • Notifications will be sent out by February 26, 2016.

​YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLICATIONS​

​These annual EAS prizes for young scientists are intended to recognize distinction shown by publications that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of atherosclerosis and linked metabolic disturbances. One Prize is awarded for clinical research and one Prize is awarded for basic research.

Each recipient will receive a prize of € 2000 and will be invited to make a short presentation of their work at the annual EAS Congress. The winners of the Awards for outstanding publications 2015 will be invited to present at EAS 2016 Innsbruck.

Nomination procedures

  • Nominations to be made by completing the form.
  • Deadline for receipt of nominations is February 01, 2016.
  • The nomination should be made by an EAS member (i.e., who has paid their annual membership subscription for year 2015).
  • The nominated article should have been published January 01-December 31, 2015, and be in English.
  • The person nominated must be 40 years or younger on December 31, 2015.
  • You may nominate yourself.
  • The nominations will be reviewed by the Society's Award Committee.
  • The selection of the Award recipients is at the discretion of the Society's Executive Committee.
  • Results will be announced by March 01, 2016.​
